Short Life Advice from the Best in the World


After interviewing 140 people at the top of their fields, the bestselling author realized that almost all of them share the same habit.

In his new book, Tribe of Mentors, productivity guru Tim Ferris took 11 questions to over 100 top performers across a variety of sectors, from tech entrepreneurs to actors, authors and sports stars.

He recognised that there was a pattern coming up after he analysed their answers.

At least 80 percent of the people in the book have some sort of mindfulness or meditation practice first thing in the morning, before receiving inputs from their devices. That’s typically 10-20 minutes in length.
“Mindfulness meditation has a branding problem,” Tim said. “A lot of people would think of yoga instructors playing didgeridoos, swinging dream-catchers over their heads — and they wouldn’t be entirely wrong in a lot of cases. But at the heart of it, it is a simple practice that is about training the mind.”
